7 Morsels of Leadership
I have been on a 25 year personal quest to reconcile whether or not I am a leader who is living up to my potential. And really, what does that even mean? How do I know if I am living up to my potential?
Did I mention I am a therapist? Yes, I’m the one who tries to help people on their journey. In my spare time, I have been working on my journey. This quest has led me to these 7 morsels of leadership. Well, really only 4, but they say people really like 7’s so I numbered them 1, 3, 5, and 7.
1. The enemy of good is better.
We often waste time and energy perfecting something that already works good enough.
3. Leadership is not a commodity.
It is not a course where you earn a certificate that proves you are qualified to be a leader. It is developed in the lab of life.
5. Leadership is a simple recipe made up of Grit and humility.
In the immortal words of Mike Tyson, everyone has a plan until they are punched in the face. That’s grit!
7. Do what reality requires and nothing more.
Leadership does not seek personal gain.
This is just an introduction. The next four posts over the next four weeks will examine each of these further.
